Nanny State: A Tax on Soda

I don't like to be taxed on items that the government wants me to stop using. I think that is all kinds of wrong. It is none of their business what I eat and drink as long as it's legal:

Doctors will this week declare war on America's soft drinks industry by calling for a 'fat tax' to combat the nation's obesity epidemic.

Delegates at the powerful American Medical Association's annual conference will demand a levy on the sweeteners put in sugary drinks to pay for a massive public health education campaign.

Stop treating us like children! What about those who are thin, or those who don't drink soda, why should they be penalized? Education! Who doesn't know that soda is fattening.
