The Bible Taught as Literature in Public Schools

Here is a link to an article about a new textbook that teaches the Bible as literature. I am so pleased by this because it is really needed. Since the Bible has been removed from the public schools, I have been afraid that the nation's children would become illiterate. So much of western civilization art and literature has been steeped in or a reaction to the Bible. How can our children understand Thoreau, East of Eden, the literature and art of the Middle Ages, Moby Dick and so much more without an understanding of the stories in the Bible.
