I knew that Bush stepped in it when he essentially called the opponents of this bill fear-mongers and now we see some of the fallout. Laura Ingraham ripped into the president on her program yesterday. You can listen to the rant here (via).
It's really a smart move to insult your base, especially since they are the only ones who still support you as president. With so little support in the media, why would you tick off the only people who will give your views a fair hearing? Not only is it stupid, it's not particularly gracious. You don't throw mud at the people who have been your staunchest supporters.
