Air America host wasn't attacked by a right-wing nut

Um, why would anyone think we care what some random host says on Air America? Why would the right bother silencing them? Aren't they practically silent now? Don't you have to be on the same block of some of the stations to pick them up?

Air America radio host Randi Rhodes is temporarily off the air, but claims she was brutally attacked near her Manhattan apartment are bogus, her lawyer and a police source said today.

Fellow host Jon Elliott claimed on the liberal radio network that Rhodes had been mugged while walking her dog, Simon, on Sunday night. Elliot, who said Rhodes lost several teeth in the attack, waxed about a possible conspiracy.

"Is this an attempt by the right-wing, hate machine to silence one of our own?" he asked on the air, according to Talking Radio, a blog. "Are we threatening them? Are they afraid that we’re winning? Are they trying to silence intimidate us?"

[...]

"The reports of a presumed hate crime are unfounded," the statement read by a receptionist at the network's New York offices said. "Ms. Rhodes is looking forward to being back on the air on Thursday."
What's funny about this is that the station had to put out a statement stopping the rumors that their host started.

To all you lefties reading this let me assure you that we on the right wouldn't think of silencing you guys! Blather on! We aren't afraid of anything you have to say.

Update: Hysteria? More like hysterical laughing! We are laughing at you. You're silly and we hope that you never get that since we would lose a source of entertainment.

Woman cited for swearing at her toilet

This is absolutely ridiculous! There is no reason that a woman can't swear at her toilet in the privacy of her bathroom. I think that it's an invasion of privacy that a cop was listening to her swear.

A West Scranton woman could face up to 90 days in jail and a fine of up to $300 for allegedly shouting profanities at an overflowing toilet while inside her Luzerne Street home.

Dawn Herb, whose potty mouth caught the attention of an off-duty police officer, was charged with disorderly conduct recently, prompting her to fire off a letter to the editor and vow to fight the charge.

“It doesn’t make any sense. I was in my house. It’s not like I was outside or drunk,” said Ms. Herb, who resides at 924 Luzerne St. along with her four young children. “A cop can charge you with disorderly conduct for disrespecting them?”

The obscenities hit the fan when she battled her overflowing toilet around 8 p.m. Thursday, she said.

Although Ms. Herb doesn’t recall exactly what she said, she admitted that she was frustrated and let more than a few choice words fly. Unfortunately, it was near an open bathroom window.

“The toilet was overflowing and leaking down into the kitchen and I was yelling (for my daughter) to get the mop,” she said. “A guy is yelling, ‘Shut the f--- up,’ and I yelled back, ‘Mind your own business.’ ”

Her next-door neighbor, Patrick Gilman, a city police officer who was off-duty at the time, apparently had enough of Ms. Herb’s foul mouth and asked her to keep it down, police said. When Ms. Herb didn’t stop, he called the police.

Moveon.org can dish it out but it can't take it!

Evidently, name calling is OK if you are calling a four star general a traitor but if you make fun of those who do it, watch out! You may be sued. Moveon.org has unleashed their lawyers on Cafepress store owners targeting those who parody their site. One of the owners was selling t-shirts that read:

General Petraeus has done more for this country than MoveOn.org. MoveOn.org, the worst friend a Democrat could have! Move Away from Move On!
Michelle Malkin has the original graphic up (let her get sued, she has more money :-)

Cafepress stood up to the bullying tactics but did remove a couple items from the store. So the owner took down the offending t-shirt and put up this one instead:

Proceeds from the sale of the t-shirts go to military families.

Bong Hits 4 Jesus - The Game

To suspend or not suspend that is the question:

To help you sort out which speech is protected and which is not in this post-Bong Hits 4 Jesus world, we've teamed up with our friends at RedAphid.com to create "Bong Hits 4 Jesus - The Game!"

Will you be a permissive principal, who allows all speech no matter how much it encourages drug use? Or will you seek to restrict all speech that the Court has deemed punishable under the Constitution? It's up to you, but watch out who you suspend -- you might get sued!
Code is available for Myspace users and bloggers to share with your friends and readers.

Students can't say "Bong Hits for Jesus" but they can say...

Bush is a coke head and drunk:

Putting its recent ruling on student speech into practice, the Supreme Court on Friday rejected a school district's appeal of a ruling that it violated a student's rights by censoring his anti-Bush T-shirt.

A seventh-grader from Vermont was suspended for wearing a shirt that bore images of cocaine and a martini glass—but also had messages calling President Bush a lying drunk driver who abused cocaine and marijuana, and the "chicken-hawk-in-chief" who was engaged in a "world domination tour."

[...]

Williamstown Middle School Principal Kathleen Morris-Kortz said the images violated the school dress code, which prohibits clothing that promotes the use of drugs or alcohol.
Probably viewed as political speech which we all can agree should be free but someone might want to explain to the child that it's disrespectful and that he might want to remember his attitude toward drugs when he's in HS. He wouldn't want to be considered a hypocrite.

Edwards' supporters harass a protester at the debates

I'm not sure why she was protesting (couldn't read the sign in the video). As you can see in the video, they put their signs around her sign so that it can't be read. It's amazing the lengths the left will go to suppress free speech. Evidently, free speech only applies to them.
