Did you miss the GOP debate last night?

If you did, you might want to read Jim Geraghty's excellent posts on the debate as he liveblogged it (sorry, too many to link to, just scroll down). I felt like I actually saw it (I was writing my exegesis paper during the debate).

BTW, he now believes that it was a waste of time for the candidates to participate:

Before this debate, I was in Patrick Ruffini’s camp, in that I thought a YouTube debate was worth trying. But afterwards, I’m skeptical that this needs to turn into a new campaign tradition. The freakishly-bizarre-to-valuable-question ratio was all out of whack, much worse than the Democratic debate, I would contend.

And I would have liked to see a Republican candidate rip into CNN for using a cartoon that mocked the sitting Vice President to ask a question. I don’t care if his approval rating is at 2 percent, you don’t mock the number two man in government as a power-hungry paranoid snoop at a GOP debate. You just don’t.

Big surprise! I never thought the debate was a good idea. I think it demeans the office of the president.

YouTube bans Rational Response Squad following complaint

Rational Response Squad was banned by YouTube after it complained that it's videos were being taken down without cause:

YouTube has banned a group called the Rational Response Squad after it complained its videos were being taken down due to spurious DMCA requests from creationists.

The takedown followed copyright requests sent by Creation Science Evangelism Ministries, an organization founded by currently-imprisoned tax evader Kent Hovind. The Squad says the clips comprise material that is either public domain, covered by fair use, or entirely self-produced.

If the material was fair use, than Creation Science Evangelism shouldn't harass YouTube into taking down the video. If they don't like it, they should respond to it. It's better to be in dialogue than to push your weight around unfairly. But if Rational Response Squad was in violation of copy right law, then Creation Science has every right to protect their material.

But, tsk tsk to YouTube for banning the group just because they complained. Sounds a little over the top and something you would expect from dictators.

If you have a YouTube account, go flag this video as inappropriate. It's called "Jump Jump, 9/11 Will Make You Jump." I think from the title you can guess what the video is about. Very sick.
