Dude, the cops will never smell it

Taking a toke by the police station demonstrates that it may be time to lay off the weed:

Lakehurst police didn't have to go far to make a marijuana arrest. An officer heading home early Saturday smelled pot burning in the police station parking lot.

USB Santa claus boots

And the purpose is...? Um...why would I attach my computer to my feet? That's not the smartest thing to do, especially when you're absent minded like me.

Hanukkah Hams???

Who the heck doesn't know that ham is not kosher? Especially in NYC!

A posh food store in New York's Greenwich Village has found itself red faced after offering hams for sale with the slogan "Delicious for Hanukkah," the current Jewish religious holiday.

[...]

A manager at the Balducci's gourmet grocery store told the newspaper that the sign was a mistake and blamed it on a stock clerk.

Jack Murtha acknowledges that the surge is working

Bwahahahahahahahaha:

U.S. Rep. John Murtha today said he saw signs of military progress during a brief trip to Iraq last week, but he warned that Iraqis need to play a larger role in providing their own security and the Bush administration still must develop an exit strategy.

"I think the 'surge' is working," the Democrat said in a videoconference from his Johnstown office, describing the president's decision to commit more than 20,000 additional combat troops this year. But the Iraqis "have got to take care of themselves."

Violence has dropped significantly in recent months, but Mr. Murtha said he was most encouraged by changes in the once-volatile Anbar province, where locals have started working closely with U.S. forces to isolate insurgents linked to Al Qaeda.
Here's a blast from the past where he's caught on tape video saying that the progress was an "illusion" (btw, while you're there check out the bunny snuff film -- I think it went on too long).

But of course the borg would never allow him to get away with that:
War critic Rep. John Murtha on Friday clarified an earlier statement that seemingly expressed optimism about President Bush's plan that increased troops in Iraq. Murtha emphasized that he still thinks the war should end.

After making a trip to Iraq last week, Murtha, D-Pa., told reporters Thursday, "I think the surge is working." But he said that was just one element and the United States was still failing diplomatically in the country.

Student suspended for 10 days for saying "noose"

He said that he knew how to tie a noose but he wouldn't because he didn't want to get into trouble. Little did he know that just talking about a noose would get him suspended. Amazing! Kids actually hit other kids and nothing happens to them but say the word "noose" and you get kicked out of school for 10 days.

Travis Grigsby loves playing drums, but he and his friend Alex Coday weren't able to play for two weeks after they were suspended. It started after the band's performance at a football game. Some kids on the drum line said they were talking about the best knots to use to tie up the drum equipment.

"Someone asked if anybody knew how to tie a noose and Travis did admit he knew how to tie a noose," Kim Grigsby said.

Travis' mom said her son is almost an Eagle Scout, he knew how to tie it, but told his friends he wouldn't because you could get in trouble for that. Later, a black student on the drum line told the teacher he was offended.

"Travis was accused of using a racial slur for saying the word 'noose.' Then he was suspended for 10 days," Kim said.

Teens call 911 as dad drives 100 mph drunk

He got drunk while they were picking pumpkins. It's amazing to me how selfish parents can be and how they don't think about the impact of their actions on their kids.

Impeach Bush Socks

Not very effective but I bet it makes them feel better. They let everyone know how they feel and that's the important thing.

Mom accused of neglect for homeschooling

Shouldn't school districts be used to homeschooling now and know that they can't force parents to send their kids to school? I think if I were the parents I would sue the school for harassment and for failure to protect my kids from intimidation:

A Missouri public school is pursuing a complaint against a mother for withdrawing her son and daughter from the school and teaching them at home, after an apparent threat to the daughter's life at the school.

The case involves Moberly, Mo., mother Anita Nicoli, who withdrew her daughter and a son from Moberly Middle School recently after what she has described as a two-year campaign of intimidation by other students.

The breaking point came when another student, who allegedly had harassed and assaulted her daughter, drew a picture of herself holding a gun and pointing it directly at Nicoli's daughter. The picture was passed around among students, she said.

But she now has been cited in a complaint filed by the school after she withdrew two of her children.

[...]

The incident that she perceived as a threat was especially egregious, she told WND, because the student who drew the picture showed it to her daughter, and then other students saw it as well. One student told a teacher, who took the picture. But Nicoli said when she found out and wanted a copy of the offending picture to pursue a complaint, the school told her it had been lost.

[...]

The last situation with her daughter happened when the other student hit her daughter in the face with a locker door, leaving a bruise on her check. Then the other student slapped her daughter, punched her, and threatened to "kick" her.
I think this school has a lot of nerve charging the parent with neglect when they did nothing about the bullying.

Maureen Dowd remakes Justice Thomas in her image

Maureen Dowds' column is a perfect example of pomo (post-modernism) reader response. She reads her presuppositions into the text (in this case his interviews or maybe his book). She's writing in the voice of Justice Thomas but all you hear is the bleating of the left who still can't get over the fact that Bush won the election in 2000.

It's really a shame that the left continues to libel the man. It's obvious that they still fear him. A black man in a position of power, a black man that they can't control with their governmental programs. Everyone knows the real reason they didn't want him on the Supreme Court was because he was black. They don't want blacks on the bench who don't tow the party line, they have to keep them in place. They blocked Miguel Estrada for the same reason -- a minority who wasn't beholden to them and their programs.

She mocks his life, yet she's never faced that kind of racism. She makes light of it, as if she has the right to do so. She continues the lynching they started all those years ago, how progressive.

Disgusting news of the day: cocaine found in dead bugs

Druggies look what you might be snorting up your nose:

Dutch customs officers found 100 dead beetles stuffed with cocaine while examining a parcel from Peru, Dutch authorities said Thursday.

The little drug couriers' bodies had been slit open and filled with a total of 300 grams of cocaine, with an estimated street-value of 8,000 euros ($11,270).

Shouldn't the "ambassador for Judaism" be Jewish?

I wonder if Madonna gets that Kabbalah really isn't Judaism.

Madonna toasted the Jewish new year with Israeli President Shimon Peres and declared herself an "ambassador for Judaism," local newspapers reported Sunday.

The singer, who is not Jewish, arrived in Israel Wednesday on the eve of Jewish new year to attend a conference on Kabbalah or Jewish mysticism.

Madonna met Peres at his official Jerusalem residence on Saturday evening and the two exchanged gifts, with Madonna receiving a lavishly bound copy of the Old Testament.

She gave Peres a volume of "The Book of Splendor," the guiding text of Kabbalah, inscribed "To Shimon Peres, the man I admire and love, Madonna," the Yediot Ahronot daily reported.

Purse-snatching isn't a crime in Britain?

A woman is waiting in line at Starbucks, her purse is snatched and she pursues the criminal getting her bag back. The officer doesn't realize that it's a crime even if the victim gets her property back. Unbelievable! Even if she doesn't know the law, shouldn't she at least have enough common sense to know that theft is against the law?

A mother who had her bag snatched was told by police it was not a crime - because she chased after the thief and won her property back.

Sam McAlister was queueing in a coffee shop with her ten-month-old son when a woman grabbed the bag from the back of the pushchair as an accomplice distracted her.

Miss McAlister, 34, left her child with staff at the Starbucks cafe, whom she knew well, and set off in pursuit of the woman.

She confronted the thief in a nearby shop and was eventually reunited with her bag after a struggle.

But when she went to a police station to report the crime, she was told by an officer behind the desk that it was not a crime because she had got the bag back.

It was only when the former criminal barrister used her knowledge of the law that the case was passed on to a senior officer who decided to investigate.

"Anything that goes `bang' is illegal"

If you want to stop burglars from breaking into your house, you might not want to use pipe bombs. You may be the one who gets caught in your own booby trap:

A man tired of burglars nearly blew off his hand when bomb-like devices he set around his house exploded in his presence instead, authorities said.

[...]

The neighbor, Patrick Struble, said the explosives were "like a pipe bomb. He accidentally triggered it, and it almost blew his hand off."

[...]

"Anything that goes `bang' is illegal," police Lt. Bruce Ferguson said. "I can't think of any (legal) reason why someone would be making a bomb."

History teacher asks parents to sign letter renouncing their citizenship

A Junior High School teacher told his students that their parents had to sign a letter renouncing their citizenship as part of a lesson on the Declaration of Independence. And there were actually some parents who did it:

Bidwell Junior High School administrators said a letter sent home with students in an eighth-grade class Tuesday was a good idea for a history lesson, with bad execution.

The letter, which appeared to ask parents to renounce their U.S. citizenship, prompted phone calls to the school from several irate recipients.

[...]

He concluded the letter with "After careful consideration of the facts of our current situation, I have decided to announce to everyone that I am no longer a citizen of the United States, but a free and independent member of the global community."

"The point was, I wanted to ask parents if they would sign such a letter if conditions that existed prior to the Revolution were happening now," he said. "I just wanted to start a discussion."

[...]

Chico resident Michael Hill said he was told by his daughter, Kaytlen Hill, 13, that the assignment was to have parents sign the letter and return it to class Wednesday.

"The lesson being taught in class was that the U.S. kidnaps innocent people and takes them to Cuba, where they are kept indefinitely and tortured," Hill said he learned through his daughter.

When Hill asked her if Brooks mentioned Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where the U.S. imprisons terrorist suspects, he said his daughter replied "yes."

Hill sounds like a pretty smart guy, he did what I would have done, removed my daughter from the class. I wouldn't have allowed her to be taught by some moron who abuses his position for political purposes.

O. J. Simpson questioned about a casion hotel room break-in

When I first saw this story on Fox News this morning (I was getting my car fixed or I wouldn't have seen it) I was shocked to hear that Fox News was reporting that O. J. was being questioned over a casino robbery. It seemed so bizarre to be even beyond something that Simpson would do, I just couldn't believe that he did it. As the morning progressed the story began changing until it was breaking into a sports memorabilia room which made a lot more sense (this is why I don't watch cable news shows -- they're repetitive and it takes them awhile to get their stories straight):

Investigators questioned O.J. Simpson about a break-in at a casino hotel room involving sports memorabilia, police said Friday.

The break-in was reported at the Palace Station casino late Thursday night, police spokesman Jose Montoya said. He said the break-in involved sports collectibles, but he declined to elaborate.

Simpson was released and is believed to be in Las Vegas, Montoya said.

"We don't believe he's going anywhere," he said.
What? No low speed chase in a white Bronco?

Israeli neo-Nazi ring busted

In the bizarre news of the day Israeli police have arrested Israeli neo-Nazis who were targeting religious Jews, foreign workers, drug addicts and gays:

Eight immigrants from the former Soviet Union have been arrested in recent days in connection with at least 15 attacks, and a ninth fled the country, police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said, in the first such known cell to be discovered in Israel.

All the suspects are in their late teens or early 20s and have Israeli citizenship, Rosenfeld said.

[...]

The gang documented its activities on film and in photographs. Israeli TV stations showed grainy footage of people lying helpless on floors while several people kicked them, and of a man getting hit from behind on the head with an empty bottle.

Police found knives, spiked balls, explosives and other weapons in the suspects' possession, Rosenfeld said. One photo that was seized showed one suspect holding an M16 rifle in one hand and in the other, a sign reading "Heil Hitler," he added.

[...]

Police discovered the skinhead ring after investigating the desecration of two synagogues that were sprayed with swastikas in the central Israeli city of Petah Tikva more than a year ago, Rosenfeld said.
Why align yourself with a group that considers you subhuman? Just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Update: Evidently, we shouldn't be surprised by this story since this is not the first neo-Nazi group discovered in Israel.

"What orbits around the earth?"

Can you believe that a majority of the studio audience couldn't come up with the answer? Knowing what you know about America you can believe it right? Well, what if the studio audience was in France?
