Is not Petraeus! He came up with the plans to turn the war around and he spent the last year doing so and yet they couldn't take the step to acknowledge that. Unbelievable! Their liberal bias yet again stops them from making the obvious choice. Too bad, it continues to make their award irrelevant because you know that the real newsmakers do not have a shot.

Ed Rollins might want to talk to his candidate about Reagan's eleventh commandment
Huckabee, who has admitted he doesn't know what he's talking about, criticized Bush's foreign policy. He sounds just like the left:
Mike Huckabee, who has joked about his lack of foreign policy experience, is criticizing the Bush administration's efforts, denouncing a go-it-alone "arrogant bunker mentality" and questioning decisions on Iraq.Romney had the same take:
Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor now running for the Republican presidential nomination, lays out a policy plan that is long on optimism but short on details in the January-February issue of the journal Foreign Affairs, which is published by the Council on Foreign Relations. A copy of his article was released Friday.
"American foreign policy needs to change its tone and attitude, open up, and reach out," Huckabee said. "The Bush administration's arrogant bunker mentality has been counterproductive at home and abroad. My administration will recognize that the United States' main fight today does not pit us against the world but pits the world against the terrorists."
In one specific criticism, Huckabee said Bush did not send enough troops to invade Iraq. And he accused the president of marginalizing Gen. Eric Shinseki, the Army chief of staff, who said at the outset of the war that it might take several hundred thousand U.S. troops to control Iraq after the invasion. "I would have met with Shinseki privately and carefully weighed his advice," Huckabee said.
[...]
Separately, Huckabee also named Republican political strategist Ed Rollins as his national campaign chairman. Rollins was national campaign director for Ronald Reagan in the 1984 presidential election.
Mitt Romney accused Republican presidential rival Mike Huckabee of "running from the wrong party" for criticizing President Bush's foreign policy as an "arrogant bunker mentality."It's clear to me that Huckabee is the most anti-Reagan candidate in the pack.
Romney defended Bush against Huckabee's charge, which the former Arkansas governor leveled in the January-February issue of the respected journal Foreign Affairs.
"I can't believe he'd say that," Romney said to a gathering of about 100 supporters in a restaurant here. "I had to look again—did this come from Barack Obama or from Hillary Clinton? Did it come from John Edwards? No, it was Governor Huckabee."

Democrats cave to Bush's demands
But Pelosi is still making this a partisan fight:
House Democrats have elected to manipulate funding levels for various government programs to reflect their policy priorities. The House Appropriations subcommittee chairmen have been given substantial leeway to decide which programs will be cut and boosted in the process. This is why Pelosi is one of the worst Speaker of the House in recent history. She doesn't get it that she has to compromise to get what she wants. She has to work with the Republicans or it won't pass in the Senate. She better hope that she doesn't lose seats in the House in 2008 or she will really learn what it means to compromise (if the Democrats vote her in as Speaker of the House again, I would be surprised).
The Senate is expected to adopt a straight across-the-board cut without discriminating among Democratic and Republican favorites, said several Democrats briefed on leadership negotiations.
As a result, even after House and Senate appropriators shave the omnibus to Bush’s number, they will still have to wrestle over differences in each chamber’s version.
[...]Another significant difficulty emerging for Democrats is a disagreement over war funding. Pelosi made clear that a House-passed omnibus would not include any more funding for the war in Iraq, although it may include funds for military operations in Afghanistan.
One senior House appropriator said that plan means it will be left to the Senate to decide how to package war funds in the omnibus. As lawmakers scramble to recess before Christmas, there will be pressure to add war funds without restrictions on Bush’s ability to conduct the war. The president has vowed to veto any effort to withdraw troops from Iraq or impose other constraints.
And then there's this:
Democrats made a final attempt to drive a wedge between congressional Republicans and Bush by threatening to kill all lawmakers’ earmarks to bring the cost of the omnibus to the level Bush demanded. Obey hoped rank-and-file Republicans would pressure their leaders to accept a Democratic-proposed compromise that exceeded the White House budget by $11 billion, said a Democratic aide. She can't even keep her own people in line! And I thought they were going to get rid of earmarks. These people just keep writing the ads for the 2008 election.
But that plan fizzled in the face of stiff Democratic opposition.

Barbara Walters receives a religious Christmas card from the White House
And is shocked! Shocked that the White House would send out a card that would mention God in a Christmas card. What nerve of the White House to quote the Bible in a Christmas card! What about the poor atheist who receives the card?

Right Wing News' 2nd Annual Worst Quotes From The Daily Kos
Here. Remember as you read them that this is the group that the presidential candidates spoke to instead of speaking to the DLC. And this is the group that Pelosi and Reid confer with over their Iraq policy.

Erin Burnett Apologizes for Calling Bush a "Monkey"
Here. I thought it was actually helpful to know that the talking head who reads your news is a BDS suffer, we need to avoid their reporting since it is infected with their disease.

TNR finally admits that the Beauchamp stories were crap!
Fog of War BDS! (Get ready for a long read, it's ten pages long!)
Now, if you were the publisher of this magazine wouldn't you start asking yourself the question, "Why can't these guys get it right?" This is what, the third time shoddy editing has missed a lying reporter. I think that it would behoove the publisher to send them to fact check training so that they could follow up on some of the more obvious lies. (Listen, if bloggers could find out that he was lying, why couldn't trained professionals?)

Michelle Malkin's “Posterizing” the Democrat Party contest
I've been too busy with my exegesis paper to keep up with my favorite blogs but I just noticed that Michelle Malkin has been running a Posterizing the Democrat Party contest as a goof on the HuffPost Posterizing the Modern GOP contest. Here is one of the finalists and my personal favorite:
I like this one as well:
But she has a ton of other really funny posters, so go check them out if you haven't seen them yet.
What's so funny about the Huffington campaign is how backward it is:
The result is three powerful posters that simply but graphically capture the lunacy of the modern GOP. "Here is my thinking," Silverstein told me, "What if we could TiVo the last six-plus years and play them back - without comment -- for the American people, and let them connect the dots? It's not a pretty picture." Silverstein's take away message is uncluttered and direct: "Haven't we had enough? Democrats '08."Go check out the posters, they are all related to Bush. Don't they realize that's so Maginot Line! They're fighting against an enemy they will not be facing in 2008. Thompson didn't have anything to do with the things listed on the posters, neither did Romney, Huckabee, or Giuliani. Their "modern GOP" is actually the old GOP. They better learn to fight the enemy they have, not the one they're fixated on.

"Bush Death Watch: Countdown"
That's the title of an article on SF.com which is the San Francisco Chronicle's website. Here's an excerpt:
It is less than one year until the country finally takes a deep breath and flexes its atrophied muscles and opens its bloody, Cheney-punched mouth and lets it be known to the world, to the universe, to its own numb and dejected soul just exactly how unwell it has felt, how much pain has raked its heart, lo, these past seven (eight, by then) years, by ushering in an entirely new political era, as we all exhale a massive sigh of long overdue relief that - praise Jesus, Allah, Buddha and the devil all at once - the long national nightmare of George W. Bush is finally over. It's sad when BDS clouds the judgment of the editors of a newspaper and allows them to publish the ravings of someone suffering from insanity.
BTW, we when Clinton left the White House that would be the end of him, oh how wrong we were. Better hope that we never elect his brother or nephews as our presidential candidate or he might be coming back (hehehe).

BDS in the world of bridge
BDS is such a pernicious thing and infects a wide variety of people. It's such a shame when it leads to the loss of income:
In the genteel world of bridge, disputes are usually handled quietly and rarely involve issues of national policy. But in a fight reminiscent of the brouhaha over an anti-Bush statement by Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks in 2003, a team of women who represented the United States at the world bridge championships in Shanghai last month is facing sanctions, including a yearlong ban from competition, for a spur-of-the-moment protest.(via)
At issue is a crudely lettered sign, scribbled on the back of a menu, that was held up at an awards dinner and read, “We did not vote for Bush.”
By e-mail, angry bridge players have accused the women of “treason” and “sedition.”
“This isn’t a free-speech issue,” said Jan Martel, president of the United States Bridge Federation, the nonprofit group that selects teams for international tournaments. “There isn’t any question that private organizations can control the speech of people who represent them.”
[...]
“What we were trying to say, not to Americans but to our friends from other countries, was that we understand that they are questioning and critical of what our country is doing these days, and we want you to know that we, too, are critical,” Ms. Greenberg said, stressing that she was speaking for herself and not her six teammates.
[...]
The proposed sanctions would hurt the team’s playing members financially. “I earn my living from bridge, and a substantial part of that from being hired to compete in high-level competitions,” Debbie Rosenberg, a team member, said. “So being barred would directly affect much of my ability to earn a living.”
What's amazing to me is the arrogance that it takes to even write the sign. Who cares if you're critical of the president? What does that have to do with bridge? Just insane. And if you don't want you income impacted, maybe you should learn to discipline yourself and not throw political bombs where they don't belong.

Obama on Cheney: "The crazy uncle in the attic"
I thought Obama was going to be a different kind of politician. Seems like more of the same BDS that's we've seen for years.
"For the first time in a long time, the name George Bush will not appear on the ballot," he told the crowd of about 500 at Converse College in Spartanburg. "The name Dick Cheney, my cousin, will not appear on the ballot. We tried to hide the cousin thing. Everybody has a black sheep in the family. The crazy uncle in the attic."(via)
Doesn't sound too presidential, does it? Not gracious at all and quite rude (which is not very Christian), especially since they are related.

McConnell: One of the Democratic leaders suggested Mukasey
The post an Mukasey elicited this response from an anonymous commenter (of course, do we get any other kind):
when republicans block legislation it's because they are standing by their principles. when democrats do it, they're obstructionist. when democrats try to move bipartisan legislation and bush vetoes it, it's somehow the democrats' fault that bush won't deal. Here's what McConnell had to say about this:
why should we expect anything different from a boy-king who had always gotten what he wanted or he'd throw a little tantrum.
i very much doubt that bush's powerless threat had any affect on schumer's decision. based on bush's record of picking from the field of cronies, incompetents, losers, and criminals to fill his administration, the congress should be highly skeptical. the president is morally bankrupt.
how lame your assumptions.
“Let's just go back to the beginning on Mukasey.Bush reaches out to Democrats to get a candidate that they would confirm and then he's slapped in the face yet again.
“Our Democratic colleagues said we needed a new attorney general, so we got a new attorney general.
“They said there needed to be a bipartisan consultation. The president engaged in bipartisan consultation. One of the Democratic leaders, in fact, suggested Judge Mukasey and the president nominated Judge Mukasey.
The commenter evidently is either blind or ignorant. I guess BDS makes it hard to see the truth. He/she may want to get that checked out by a doctor.

Bill Clinton Takes On 9/11 Conspiracy Protesters
You can view the video here. Here is what he said:
"A fraud? No, it wasn't a fraud," Clinton said, as the crowd cheered him on. "I'll be glad to talk to you if you shut up and let me talk."(via)
When another heckler shouted that the attacks were an "inside job," Clinton took even greater umbrage.
"An inside job? How dare you. How dare you. It was not an inside job," Clinton said. "You guys have got to be careful, you're going to give Minnesota a bad reputation."
First Maher and now Clinton, it's good that the Democrats are standing up to these nuts.

Pelosi rebukes Rep. Pete Stark
Why bother rebuking him? The guy has no sense of common decency and doesn't get it that the House should be above the rantings of those who suffer from BDS. He's just one more example of the coursing of our culture:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rebuked a fellow San Francisco Bay-area liberal Friday for what she said were "inappropriate" comments about Iraq during a congressional debate.
During a debate on children's health care Thursday, Rep. Pete Stark accused Republicans of sending troops to Iraq to "get their heads blown off for the president's amusement."
[...]
Pelosi issued a statement Friday evening rapping Stark, who is in his 18th term representing the liberal East Bay. He's California's longest-serving House members.
"While members of Congress are passionate about their views, what Congressman Stark said during the debate was inappropriate and distracted from the seriousness of the subject at hand—providing health care for America's children," Pelosi said.
[...]
After numerous Republicans called on him to apologize, Stark said it was they who should be apologizing, for failing to provide the votes to override Bush's veto.

Maureen Dowd remakes Justice Thomas in her image
Maureen Dowds' column is a perfect example of pomo (post-modernism) reader response. She reads her presuppositions into the text (in this case his interviews or maybe his book). She's writing in the voice of Justice Thomas but all you hear is the bleating of the left who still can't get over the fact that Bush won the election in 2000.
It's really a shame that the left continues to libel the man. It's obvious that they still fear him. A black man in a position of power, a black man that they can't control with their governmental programs. Everyone knows the real reason they didn't want him on the Supreme Court was because he was black. They don't want blacks on the bench who don't tow the party line, they have to keep them in place. They blocked Miguel Estrada for the same reason -- a minority who wasn't beholden to them and their programs.
She mocks his life, yet she's never faced that kind of racism. She makes light of it, as if she has the right to do so. She continues the lynching they started all those years ago, how progressive.

The prayers of the left
I wonder if anonymous thinks these prayers glorify the Lord.
What are they going to do with all that hatred when Bush leaves office? Set up support groups?
