Impeach Bush Rally

Here are pictures from the recent Beach Impeach which consists of activists forming the word "Impeach!" with their bodies. What the heck does this accomplish? Do they do it because it makes them feel like they're doing something?

It's not surprising that those who wish to impeach Bush are reduced to forming letters with their bodies. Bush isn't going to be impeached and even if they did something more productive like stage a sit-in in Pelosi's office, they wouldn't get what they wanted. Pelosi isn't insane enough to start the proceedings and even if she were, there aren't enough votes in the House to impeach him.

I can't help but think about what these people are going to do when Bush is out of the White House. They will be losing their social events, what will they do with their life then? I guess they can continue protesting the war. It's going to be weird seeing HillaryHilter signs at the rallies.

Pelosi complains to reporters that her neighborhood is besieged by Code Pink

Pelosi told reporters how hard it's been to be picketed by the antiwar protesters.

"Look," she said, the chicken breast on her plate untouched. "I had, for five months, people sitting outside my home, going into my garden in San Francisco, angering neighbors, hanging their clothes from trees, building all kinds of things -- Buddhas? I don't know what they were -- couches, sofas, chairs, permanent living facilities on my front sidewalk."

Unsmilingly, she continued: "If they were poor and they were sleeping on my sidewalk, they would be arrested for loitering, but because they have 'Impeach Bush' across their chest, it's the First Amendment."

Poor Pelosi! Her base is holding her accountable to her rhetoric. Don't you hate it when that happens? Nobody (including Pelosi) should be shocked by their actions since it's common knowledge that when the antiwar left are unhappy they throw a tantrum protest.

But don't start feeling sorry for her just yet because she's not stupid enough to allow the dregs of society to protest in front of her house:

The neighborhood has lost 5 parking spots and Code Pink has been zoned down the street, away from the Speaker's front door and house, in a stunning arabesque that landed the whole pink lot ... directly in front of my house. If you visited during protest hours, and knew whose house was whose, you would ask, "Why, Code Pink, are you picketing that Yellow House. Doesn't the Speaker live over there?" During the last siege, we relied on the helpful San Francisco police to remove the Sunday, humming, fun-seeking protesters from our front steps, where they lounged lizard-like enjoying the sun, music and honking passers-by.

TNR didn't even fact check the Beauchamp story???

What can we expect from the magazine that brought us Stephen Glass:

Last month Pajamas Media published an in-depth report on the scandal surrounding the “Baghdad Diarist” articles by Scott Thomas Beauchamp in The New Republic.

Now PJM’s Bob Owens interviews Major John Cross, who led the U.S. Army’s investigation into Private Beauchamp’s shocking claims. Even more shocking is what Cross reveals below: Among other findings, there is no credible evidence that TNR made any attempt at fact checking prior to publishing the articles. Furthermore, not one of the soldiers interviewed under oath in the investigation corroborated Beauchamp’s story.

Looks like Sheehan has a buyer for her property

But she doesn't seem open to the bid:

Move America Forward, which bills itself as the nation's largest grassroots pro-troop organization, says it plans to buy the land near President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, where Cindy Sheehan has waged her anti-war protests.

The group said it plans to build a monument to America's war heroes on the five-acre site. A sketch of the planned monument shows a pillar topped by a cross.

However, the Associated Press on Friday quoted Sheehan's sister as saying "It'll be a cold day in hell" before Sheehen sells the property to Move America Forward. "She'll sell it to them for $5 million," Dede Miller was quoted as saying.

Cindy Sheehan leaves the anti-war movement

Cindy Sheenan left the Democrat Party over the weekend and now she's leaving the anti-war movement as well. She's learned that speaking out against the left is apostasy:

I have endured a lot of smear and hatred since Casey was killed and especially since I became the so-called "Face" of the American anti-war movement. Especially since I renounced any tie I have remaining with the Democratic Party, I have been further trashed on such "liberal blogs" as the Democratic Underground. Being called an "attention whore" and being told "good riddance" are some of the more milder rebukes.

I have come to some heartbreaking conclusions this Memorial Day Morning. These are not spur of the moment reflections, but things I have been meditating on for about a year now. The conclusions that I have slowly and very reluctantly come to are very heartbreaking to me.

The first conclusion is that I was the darling of the so-called left as long as I limited my protests to George Bush and the Republican Party. Of course, I was slandered and libeled by the right as a "tool" of the Democratic Party. This label was to marginalize me and my message. How could a woman have an original thought, or be working outside of our "two-party" system?

However, when I started to hold the Democratic Party to the same standards that I held the Republican Party, support for my cause started to erode and the "left" started labeling me with the same slurs that the right used. I guess no one paid attention to me when I said that the issue of peace and people dying for no reason is not a matter of "right or left", but "right and wrong."

I am going to take whatever I have left and go home. I am going to go home and be a mother to my surviving children and try to regain some of what I have lost. I will try to maintain and nurture some very positive relationships that I have found in the journey that I was forced into when Casey died and try to repair some of the ones that have fallen apart since I began this single-minded crusade to try and change a paradigm that is now, I am afraid, carved in immovable, unbendable and rigidly mendacious marble.

Camp Casey has served its purpose. It’s for sale. Anyone want to buy five beautiful acres in Crawford , Texas ? I will consider any reasonable offer. I hear George Bush will be moving out soon, too...which makes the property even more valuable.

This is my resignation letter as the "face" of the American anti-war movement. This is not my "Checkers" moment, because I will never give up trying to help people in the world who are harmed by the empire of the good old US of A, but I am finished working in, or outside of this system. This system forcefully resists being helped and eats up the people who try to help it. I am getting out before it totally consumes me or anymore people that I love and the rest of my resources.

She didn't get her way, so she's taking her ball and going home. She seems to have started to grasp the fact that just because you want something doesn't mean you'll get it. The anti-war movement exists in a country that's divided over the war and they need to learn that they can't throw tantrums to get attention so that they can get their way. No matter how hard they try they can't force us to leave Iraq because it's not safe to do so and there are enough politicians who realize that.

I also think that she's starting to see the elephant in the room (or should I say donkey), that the Democrats aren't interested in ending this war as much as they claim. They are more interested in power. That has been clearly evident from the start.

What are these people going to do when Bush leaves office? They may think that they'll be happier but I bet they'll feel loss and emptiness because he generated passion in their lives and gave them purpose. What are they going to do when that purpose is gone? When they no longer feel the passion? I know that you might think that I'm cold hearted and that I'm joking about this, but I'm not. I actually feel concerned for them. No, really. I do because I think that many of them don't realize how much of their lives have been given over to this issue, how much of their life is given over to hatred.
