Peter Boyle Dies at 71

I was sad to see that Peter Boyle died. I loved him in Everybody Loves Raymond and in Young Frankenstein

Peter Boyle, the tall, prematurely bald actor who was the tap-dancing monster in "Young Frankenstein" and the curmudgeonly father in the long-running sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond," has died. He was 71.

Boyle died Tuesday evening at New York Presbyterian Hospital. He had been suffering from multiple myeloma and heart disease, said his publicist, Jennifer Plante.

I can tell you from experience that multiple myeloma is a very painful and debilitating cancer. My brother-in-law has it and it has been devastating to his life. He asked his doctor how many other patients had made it as far as he has under the treatment that he has been taking and the doctor told him none. He has been in remission a couple years now but he is in constant pain.

Updated to add: a video clip from "Young Frankenstein."
