I have some sympathy for those who can't work during our budget crisis, but this guy's complaints are falling on deaf ears:
You know this guy helped get Corzine elected. Next time vote Republican. They would have found a way to cut spending to close the gap.Particularly livid was C. Robert McDevitt, president of Unite Here! Local 54, a union that represents 16,000 casino workers. There are approximately 45,000 full-time and part-time workers at the city's 12 casinos, and, says McDevitt, an additional 100,000 or more in businesses that supply casinos with various wares.
"Next year, on Fourth of July weekend, who is going to want to book a room in Atlantic City if this might happen again?" McDevitt asked. "You've got to think they are going to go to Connecticut or Delaware or, if it is ready, Pennsylvania, to gamble. Only New Year's Eve and a big fight are better than the Fourth of July."
Look, the residents of NJ must be the most taxed of the nation, we have a sales tax, an income tax, property tax, gas tax, water tax, phone tax and I'm probably forgetting some. Plus we have gambling revenue from Atlantic City and a lottery. Why isn't that enough money? Oh, that's right -- tax and spend liberal, I guess you must live up to your name.
